How a 1-Month-Old Tells Mom He’s Hungry

In the world of newborns, communication begins with cries, and a 1-month-old baby has a unique cry that “talks” to their mom when they’re hungry. While they may not use words, their cries are powerful signals of their needs, and a mother’s intuition becomes finely tuned to decipher them.

Among the various cries a baby has, the hunger cry is distinct. It’s typically more rhythmic and persistent than other cries. This cry often comes with an urgency that tells Mom it’s time for a feeding.

Alongside the hunger cry, babies often display non-verbal cues. They might root around, turning their head and searching for the breast or bottle. Their mouth may make sucking movements, and they might even try to suck on their fingers or fists.

Hunger can make a baby fidgety and restless. They may squirm and wriggle, making it clear that they’re ready for a meal.
